P!nk: The Truth About Love Tour: Houston Review

Last Thursday, my boyfriend and I went on an impromptu date to see Pink perform at the Toyota Center in Houston, TX. I had a previous commitment so I originally was not planning to go to this show, at the last minute that fell through...

Anyway, I ended up getting great seats (5th row on the side) and we went to the show. The only other time I saw Pink was in 2009 live at the MTV Video Music Awards and she was great, so I knew I wouldn't be disappointed.

She definitely works hard and you can just tell she actually really enjoys what she does. I definitely think she does not get enough recognition. Her voice was on point and she was beaming with excitement throughout the entire show. She mentioned her family several times and even pointed out her husband (Carey Hart) holding her baby girl (Willow) in the audience. Later, halfway through the show, she asked where her husband was (the next song was about him) and then she laughed and said "oh it's bath time right now."

Seeing her dedication to her career and being so involved with her family - basically merging these two worlds seamlessly together, was definitely impressive. I also can't leave out her impressive physique! Personally, I wouldn't want her exact body, but it is still amazing to see how in shape and how strong she is (and had a child not that long ago).

Overall the performance was excellent, she commanded the stage and every person in that crowds attention. I have been to many many concerts in my day and at least 25% of the crowd starts rushing out of the venue right before the encore. Well not at this show! The audience eagerly waited to see what she would do next and not a soul moved out of their seat.

The only thing I did not like was the raunchy theme during some of the show...there was some crazy guy popping up here and there and he just grossed me out. I think he was supposed to be a cross between a burlesque dancer/ lion tamer. Her dancers also did several dances as if they were having s*x too. Just seemed tasteless to me. I felt like the show was entertaining enough without all of that, but hey, that is my opinion!

One of my favorite parts of the show was a video they played at the very end. It was outtakes from her tour rehearsals. Many of the clips featured her daughter and it was seriously the cutest thing. It was sweet to see them all happy together as a family. Pink and Carey both post photos of Willow on Instagram and Twitter, but I notice they are super careful...usually it's a photo of her walking away or profile shot (never of her face). They aren't ones to want their child's photo blasted everywhere. To be honest I really didn't know what she looked like until I saw this video. Adorable...and how lucky to have such cool parents.

Below are the dates for her upcoming shows, definitely check it out if you like Pink, I highly recommend!

Burgundy Wine.

Loving the burgundy/wine color for Fall. Last week I picked out some favorites from a few sites, and I never got to uploading (sorry!) until now. Two items are no longer on the website or I just didn't see them again. Unfortunately H & M doesn't have an online store, so it is hit or miss if you go out hunting for this stuff. I purchased #1 and a shirt similar to #4 (I wore a cream colored version to Houston's FNO with jeans and spiked flats).

This weekend we went out for drinks with some new friends and I wore my burgundy colored jeans. They are SO COMFORTABLE. They were $15, so I think that makes me love them even more. They photograph with a purple-ish tone (annoying), but not the case in person.

I hear everyone in NY is enjoying the crisp Fall air and just hearing that makes me a little homesick! It's been cooler here in Houston, but we are still high 80's-90...

Fierce Apparel: Black Cherry.

This is my The Dark Knight Rises inspired outfit. I found this top at Forever 21, super cheap ($11.90) and thought it was cute to wear with these leggings. I really want the American Apparel disco pants, but I can't bring myself to spend that much money. I also plan on wearing my new top on vacation over a bathing suit with some shorts. My boyfriend and I went to see the movie last weekend and I was inspired by Catwoman's fierce outfits. I am not an Anne Hathaway fan, but she did surprisingly well in this role. I thought the outfit would pop nicely with this background and the cops were totally not planned, but made for a great shot!

Did you see the movie? I really liked it, thought it was the best one yet. Of course my heart goes out to all of the victims in Colorado. Such a horrific tragedy and for no reason. I have been reading the stories of the victims and my heart breaks each time. To learn how to help the victims of the Colorado massacre, click here.

Summer Trend: Leopard Nail Art.

I am typically not a nail person. I do not have the patience to let my nails dry at home. I easily am distracted and can't sit still, who's with me on this? I think the last time I did my own nails was over a year ago. Don't get me wrong, polished nails are a MUST...I just prefer someone else to do them for me. I also just like that little bit of relaxation you get when getting your nails professionally painted. A few days ago I tried something new, the leopard print accent nail. I was shocked I didnt A. mess it up and B. it was fairly simple. I knew if I did all of my nails in the animal print, I would get sick of it after a day...so I stuck with the one accent nail.

I didn't follow any tutorial and unfortunately I don't have one for you, I googled leopard nails and looked closely at the spots on the nails and went with it. The best advice I can give is to not think about it too much...I also think the color combination plays a big part in it. A few days after this I tried the design on my cousin with red, gold and black and it did not look too leopard like. The neutral color underneath made it look for realistic for me...

New Rage: Floral and Colored Denim.

I purchased these orange denim shorts back in March. I didn't really wear them too much. I had tried wearing a black flowy top at first and it made me look like a frumpy Halloween decoration. I recently organized my clothes and it is so much easier to find things and put outfits together. I usually wear the top in a more formal setting, but it worked perfectly for this casual day. I searched high and low for wedges. I am very picky when it comes to wedges. These worked great with my short height and I like that the floral print is somewhat neutral, making it easy to pair up with multiple outfits.
